Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)

One of the fastest growing careers today! Our EMT program will prepare you for work with an ambulance service, in an emergency room or for work in a clinical setting as well as being a prerequisite for firefighting or paramedic careers. Upon successful completion of course and final exam, students will receive EMT-1 Course Certificate of Completion and will then qualify to take the National Registry exam which certifies students as EMT-1 in the State of Calif. for a period of 2 years.

EMT Program

Course includes: 150 hours of medical theory combined with practical skills and 10 hours of clinical experience including "ride-alongs" with emergency transport providers in the County of Ventura. Includes mandatory full content in "CPR for the Healthcare Provider" from American Heart Association.

Additional Information:
• Prerequisites: minimum 18 years of age; Livescan (fingerprinting); proof of titer (proof of immunization number for Hepatitis B) and TB test (given within last 3 months). Both tests can be administered at the Waverly Wellness Center on campus. Details given in first class.
• NO online registration for this course.

EMT Basic, Refresher Course
two 12-hour Saturdays
Two 12-hour sessions for those with EMT Basic certification who wish to re-certify. The course is based up Department of Transportation’s (DOT) 1994 EMT-Basic curriculum. Coursework includes: Preparatory, Airway Management, Patient Assessment, Medical Emergencies, Trauma Emergencies, Infants and Children.
