...Easy Payment Plans

We understand that sometimes paying for a class all at once isn’t doable! That’s why we set up easy payment plans for any class over 8 weeks.

Here’s how it works:

  • Call Wendy in our front office--805-497-2761 ext. 1011
  • She can take the class fee and divide it into a number of payments
  • Pay the first part when you register. Then you make payments monthly.
  • Your last payment will be due 4 weeks before the end of class.
  • We do not charge interest. We do charge a $25 set up fee that is due when you register.
Our website cannot set up payment plans. Please call us with any questions!

Absences

I want to take a class. What if I miss a day of class?

...Naturally, you wouldn’t want to miss any of your class, but our students are adults and adults’ schedules can get crazy. If you must miss a class, we recommend discussing the absence with your teacher. The first day of class you’ll get your teacher’s email. That’s the best way to stay in touch!

Cancelled Classes

I tried to enroll in a class and it was already cancelled!

...We know that is frustrating. We do not like cancelling classes! We must have a minimum number of students in each class (this number varies depending on the class).
Generally, we wait until the day before a class to cancel, however, there are times we don’t see enrollment so we cancel earlier so the teacher can make other plans.
The best thing to do is to enroll for a class as soon as you know you want to take it. That way you get a spot and we can tell the teacher you will be there. Of course, your class could still be cancelled, but there is less of a chance if we know you are coming.

Certificate Packages—Not sure what to take

I think I want to take the Office Manager Certificate package, but I’m not sure. What should I do?

...We let you step up in our certificate packages. So you can sign up for the 5 week Office Assistant class and see how you like it. We think you will like it, so you can then step up to the Administrative Assistant certificate package. When that ends, you can then step up to Office Manager. Three steps. No extra charge.

We allow the same “step up” offer with Administrative Assistant and Accounting Assistant. In fact, our evening certificates in Computer Graphic Design and IT Support work similarly. We want you to be happy with your decision!

Certificate Packages—Office Manager vs. Accounting Assistant

...What is the difference between the Office Manager certificate package and the Accounting Assistant certificate program?

Office Manager and Accounting Assistant both offer the basics of Word, Excel, Outlook, essential career skills, Accounting Basics, and QuickBooks. The big difference is Microsoft proficiency. Office Manager adds 10 weeks to master Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook. These classes prepare you for Microsoft Office Specialist Certification.

Evening classes for Administrative Assistant?

Why can’t I find Administrative Assistant certificate package offered at night after work?

...Unfortunately, the demand for evening classes for Administrative Assistant is very small. We are unable to run classes that don’t meet our minimum requirement. The good news is that we run an Excel class in the evening 2 or 3 times a year! Also, many local employers will pay for employees to take some of our daytime Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook classes.

Microsoft Office Specialist certificate vs. the Administrative Assistant certificate

The Microsoft Office Specialist industry exam is included in the Administrative Assistant certificate program, what happens if I pass the school’s tests, but not Microsoft’s?

...If you successfully complete your certificate program, you will earn a school certificate. The Microsoft Office Specialist exam is offered in addition to the school’s certificate. Not passing one has no effect on the other.

Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Computer Graphic Design Certificate Package

I want to be a Computer Graphic Designer. Do I have to take the 24-week package? I’d rather just take Photoshop.

...Photoshop is a great start, but there is a lot more to being a Computer Graphic Designer than working with photos. You’ll want to be able to offer your clients logos and other scalable art. Being able to work seamlessly between pixels and vector art will allow you to produce digital and print layouts you’ll be proud of! Oh, and the package saves you money!

Prerequisites--Photoshop Part 2?

I’ve been using Photoshop for years. Do I have to take Photoshop Part 1 before I take Photoshop Part 2?

...Not necessarily. Students who have backgrounds that meet or exceed our prerequisite classes are welcome to place themselves. The best way to do this is to:

  • Go to our website http://www.conejoadultschool.org/COMPUTER/ctc-home
  • Find Photoshop Part 1
  • Click on the link to the class outline
  • If you see that you have more than 80% of the skills listed on the outline, please feel free to sign up for Photoshop Part 2
  • If you are still concerned, you are welcome to contact the teacher via email debia@conejoadulted.org. Let her know what your concerns are.

Prerequisites

I notice that many of your classes do not list a prerequisite. How do I know which class is best for me?

...We want you to take classes that interest you without you having to take a year or 2 of prerequisites! The best way to check your knowledge is to go to our website and look at the class outline. Try this:

  • Go to our website http://www.conejoadultschool.org/COMPUTER/ctc-home
  • Find the class you are interested in
  • Click on the link to the class outline
  • If you see that you have more than 80% of the skills listed on the outline, that class might feel too easy for you—but you are still welcome to take it.
  • If you are still concerned, you are welcome to contact the department coordinator and check. You can email Cindy cwagner@conejoadulted.org or give her a call 805-497-2761 ext. 1301 and let her know your concerns.

Prerequisite for Photoshop?

I work with digital images. Do I HAVE to take the File Organization & Workflow for Digital Images class before I take Photoshop Part 1?

...No, however, File Organization & Workflow for Digital Images is the first class in our Computer Graphic Design certificate package. Our Adobe teacher gives a lot of information in that 3-hour class. It’s great for filling in any holes in your background. For $25—we think it’s well worth it!

Refunds

I want a refund!

...We post in our catalog and website that we cannot issue refunds if a student wants to cancel their registration for a class. If the school has to cancel a class for any reason, we will send you a refund right away.
If an emergency happens, we ask you to call as soon as you know. If we get the call before the class starts, we will give you a credit for the class another time.
Just make sure to contact us. If a student just doesn’t show up—there’s nothing we can do.

Teacher emails

I forgot my teacher’s email address!

...No problem! Most of our teacher’s email addresses are their first name, last initial @conejoadulted.org. (i.e. claudiac@conejoadulted.org). If that doesn’t work, just call the Business & Technology office 805-497-2761 Ext. 1302. We will be happy to help you!
